Support Services Administrator
Cathy Collins, a lifelong resident of the City of Columbus, began her Public Safety career as an officer with the Columbus Division of Police. After retiring to take a position with the State of Ohio, she started as a Branch Chief at Ohio Homeland Security, a newly created Division at the Ohio Department of Public Safety. Collins was promoted to Executive Director of the Ohio Investigative Unit, overseeing liquor and food stamp enforcement for the State. In 2009, Governor Strickland named her the Director of the Ohio Department of Public Safety. After a subsequent 2-year appointment to the Ohio Parole Board, Ms. Collins continued working at private and county level positions. In 2016, she returned to employment at the City of Columbus, being named an Assistant Director in the Public Safety Director’s office and was selected to oversee the Divisions of Licensing and Weight/Measures in April 2019. In the summer of 2019, she was appointed Interim Administrator of the Division of Support Services.
Cathy brings a legislative background to her role and in addition to obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University, she has hundreds of hours of relevant education.
