City to Resume Street Sweeping

The City of Columbus will resume its street sweeping activities on Monday, April 1st, 2019.  This includes weekly overnight street sweeping in the Central Business District as well as regular monthly street sweeps in the following neighborhoods:  University District, German Village, Italian Village, Harrison West, Neil Avenue (Goodale Blvd. to 11th Ave.)

Residents are reminded to move their vehicles during the following days and times:

Central Business District

Street sweeping will occur in the Central Business District every Monday and Tuesday from 12:01 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. from April 1st to November 1st.

On Mondays, sweeping will occur on the south side of streets that run east-west and on the east side of streets that run north-south.

On Tuesdays, sweeping will occur on the north side of streets that run east-west and on the west side of streets that run north-south.

Southeast Zone:  This area (bounded by Broad Street on the north, Fulton Street on the south, Grant Ave on the west and I-71 on the east) will only be swept once per month on the first Monday and Tuesday (each month), 12:01 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.

“Ticket Only” Pilot Program

For the 2019 street sweeping season, the Division of Parking Services will institute a “ticket only” pilot program for street sweeping (except for University District).  Previously, vehicles would be both ticketed and towed if they remained on-street during a scheduled sweeping.  This program is designed to evaluate vehicle removal compliance for street sweeping via ticketing only, while maintaining the City of Columbus’ commitment to clearing our streets of debris.

Ticketing and towing will continue in the University District due to the significant amount of debris that is collected in this area. In the past when street sweeping was not strictly enforced, it resulted in significant flooding due to water basins being filled with trash and other debris.

Vehicles not moved during scheduled street sweeping will be subject to a $55 fine.
