Columbus Public Health – Media Update

DISEASE PREVENTION AND CONTROL FOR WEST NILE VIRUS
FOR THURSDAY, AUGUST 30, 2012

WHAT:   Columbus Public Health (CPH) will be spraying the areas highlighted in our on-line map to help control disease in our region. As of today, Columbus has recorded 3 human cases of West Nile virus (WNV) this season, and the number of WNV-positive samples continues to grow. We urge residents to eliminate all standing water in their property to help prevent mosquito breeding.

CPH practices disease control and prevention for the WNV by trapping mosquitoes, investigating complaints, treating standing water, and spraying in areas with high mosquito counts and disease presence.
