BIKE COLUMBUS TWILIGHT RIDE SHOWCASES BIKE-FRIENDLY CITY
Ride Proceeds Provide Bikes, Helmets and Safety Education for Needy Kids


WHAT:          
The Mayor’s Bike Columbus Festival Twilight Ride
 
WHO:            
Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman; Columbus Public Health Commissioner Dr. Teresa Long; and, hundreds of bicyclists from throughout central Ohio.
            
WHEN:         
6:30 p.m. on Friday, July 12
 
WHERE:       
COSI/Genoa Park, 330 West Broad St.

DETAILS:    
The Mayor’s Bike Columbus Festival Twilight Ride is sponsored by TREK Bicycle Stores, Creative Foundations and Norwich Consulting.  It features 10 and 25 mile rides through Downtown and the King Lincoln, Olde Town East, Driving Park, German Village, and Franklinton neighborhoods.
 
New 2013 ride features include:  CoGo Bike Share bikes available to ride; entertainment by CD 102.5 and the Hot Latin Jazz band Yumbambe at Bicentennial Park after the ride; and snacks provided by partners Donatos, Kroger and Green Bean Delivery.  People with Disabilities will also bicycle with Mayor Coleman for the first time.
 
All proceeds of the ride benefit Columbus Public Health’s Active Living Initiative which works to combat the growing childhood obesity epidemic.  Event funds will be used to provide bicycles, bike helmets, and safety education for kids in need.
 
SPECIAL      
The TREK Bicycle Store at 1442 West Lane Avenue will hold a NOTE: reception from 5-7:30 p.m. today for pre-registered riders to pick up a Swag bag and for others to register to avoid long lines on July 12.
