DETAILS
In an effort to save more lives on America’s roadways, state and local law enforcement agencies are teaming up across the nation to crack down on motorists who are not buckling up. Seat belt use saves thousands of lives across America each year. In 2011 alone, seat belts saved an estimated 11,949 lives nationwide.

Safety belts remain the single most effective piece of protective equipment in vehicles today, yet 3 out of every 10 Franklin County residents do not regularly wear a seat belt.  Regular safety belt use is the single most effective way to reduce fatalities in motor vehicle crashes.

The 2013 Click It or Ticket enforcement mobilization runs from May 20 to June 2, 2013.

EDITOR’S
NOTE:            The event will include police officers representing several different divisions of the state police force to demonstrate increased enforcement of safety belt use. Free Click It or Ticket campaign materials also will be available.
