Columbus Public Health to Spray Area Neighborhoods to Prevent West Nile Virus

WHAT
Columbus Public Health (CPH) practices disease control and prevention for the West Nile Virus by trapping mosquitoes, investigating complaints, treating standing water, and spraying in areas with high mosquito counts and disease presence.  CPH will be spraying the areas highlighted in our on-line map to help control disease in our region.

Monday August 19, Tuesday August 20, and Wednesday August 21 between the morning hours of 4 am – 7 am.

Monday August 19, 2013:

  • Olde Towne East: (North Boundary – Mt. Vernon Ave. East Boundary – Winner Ave., South Boundary – Bryden Rd., West Boundary – I-71)
  • Central Columbus: (North Boundary – I-670, East Boundary – Nelson Ave., South Boundary – E Broad St., West Boundary – Winner Ave.)

Tuesday August 20, 2013:

  • Worthington: (North Boundary – Route 161, East Boundary – Sinclair Rd., South Boundary – Lincoln Ave., West Boundary – Olentangy River)
  • Central Columbus: (North Boundary – E Whittier St., East Boundary – Parsons Ave., South Boundary – Southwood Ave., West Boundary – Scioto River)

Wednesday August 21, 2013:

  • South Columbus: (North Boundary – Frebis Ave., East Boundary – Fairwood Ave., South Boundary – Refugee Rd., West Boundary – S Champion Ave.)
  • West Columbus: (North Boundary –Valleyview Dr., East Boundary – N Wheatland Ave., South Boundary –Sullivant Ave., West Boundary – Binns Blvd.)

DETAILS:    Weekly spraying areas are determined by mosquito trap results and reports from field staff, the number and type of mosquitoes trapped, the number of infected mosquitoes and evidence of human disease. Updated spraying maps are available on the Columbus Public Health Web site.
