WHEN:           10 a.m., Friday, May 16

WHERE:         Worthington Community Center
345 East Wilson Bridge Road, Worthington, OH

DETAILS:
In an effort to save more lives on America’s roadways, state and local law enforcement agencies are teaming up across the nation to crack down on motorists who are not buckling up. Seat belt use saves thousands of lives across America each year.  In 2012, seat belts saved more than 12,000 people from dying. From 2008–2012, seat belts saved nearly 63,000 lives.

Anyone who is not buckled increases the risk of injuring or killing others in a vehicle by 40 percent.  Death and injury to children can occur from the force of an unbelted adult colliding into them during a car crash.

The 2014 national Click It or Ticket mobilization is May 19 through June 1.

EDITOR’S NOTE:
Columbus Public Health’s Safe Kids Central Ohio will be conducting car seat checks, and partnering with Franklin County Safe Communities to promote their Click It or Ticket, For Everyone campaign.

One-on-one interviews and photo opportunities will be available at the car seat check-up event.

The event is being held at The Worthington Parks and Recreation Department’s third annual Touch-A-Truck event which will give kids the opportunity to climb aboard and get behind the wheel of their favorite vehicles.  Last year’s event attracted more than 1,500 people.
