Columbus Public Health to Spray Area Neighborhoods to Prevent West Nile Virus

WHAT:        Columbus Public Health (CPH) practices disease control and prevention for the West Nile virus by trapping mosquitoes, investigating complaints, treating standing water, and spraying in areas with high mosquito counts and disease presence.  CPH will be spraying the areas highlighted in our on-line map to help control disease in our region.

WHEN:       Tuesday, July 29, Wednesday, July 30, and Thursday, July 31

                   4 a.m. – 7 a.m.

Tuesday July 29, 2014:

  • Far North: (North Boundary – E Powell Rd., East Boundary – Polaris Lakes Dr., South Boundary – Gemini Pl., West Boundary – Ellersly Dr.)
  • Northeast Columbus: (North Boundary – E Walnut St., East Boundary – New Albany Rd. E, South Boundary – Dublin-Granville Rd., West Boundary – Harlem Rd.)
  • Northeast Columbus: (North Boundary – Tetlin Field Dr., East Boundary – Thompson Park, South Boundary – Blaverly Dr., West Boundary –  N Hamilton Rd.)

Wednesday July 30, 2014:

  • North Linden: (North Boundary – Case Rd., East Boundary – Walford Ave., South Boundary – Huy Rd., West Boundary – Karl Rd. )
  • North Linden: (North Boundary – E Weber Rd., East Boundary – Atwood Ter., South Boundary – E Hudson St., West Boundary – I-71)

Thursday July 31, 2014:

  • Clintonville: (North Boundary – E North Broadway St., East Boundary – I-71, South Boundary – E Weber Rd., West Boundary – Calumet St.)
  • North Campus: (North Boundary – E Patterson Ave., East Boundary – I-71, South Boundary – E 17TH Ave., West Boundary – N High St.)
  • South Linden (North Boundary – E 25th Ave., East Boundary – Joyce Ave., South Boundary – E 17TH Ave., West Boundary – Ontario St.)

DETAILS:    Weekly spraying areas are determined by mosquito trap results and reports from field staff, the number and type of mosquitoes trapped, the number of infected mosquitoes and evidence of human disease. Updated spraying maps are available on the Columbus Public Health Web site.
