City of Columbus street sweeping schedule, October 24 – November 4, 2016
Department
of Public Service crews are scheduled to sweep streets October 24 – November 4 in
the areas listed below. The schedule is subject to change due to weather, equipment
maintenance or emergencies requiring Street Maintenance personnel to be
reassigned. The purpose of sweeping streets is to remove dirt, litter and
debris from curbs to prevent materials from being washed by rain into storm
sewers. Litter and debris washed into storm sewers subsequently is
carried to our waterways.
Cleaning
crews ask residents and business owners to move their parked cars off streets
before the sweeping date to allow workers room to clean curb-to-curb. In
neighborhoods with permanent signs that identify street sweeping parking
restrictions, residents should check the signs for when restrictions will be in
effect because vehicles that are not moved on sweeping days will be impounded
and towed at the owner’s expense. The
neighborhoods with permanent signs are Downtown, German Village, Harrison West, Italian Village, Neil Avenue
and Ohio State University off-campus area.

sweep south sides of streets that run east-west
and east sides of streets that run north-south.
Tuesdays, 12:01-6:00 a.m., sweep north sides of streets that run east-west
