The city of Columbus and the Franklin
County Engineer’s Office are collaborating to add a shared-use path and other
roadway improvements to Wilson Road between Broad Street and Sullivant Avenue.
The project is scheduled to finish design work in 2016, with construction
scheduled for 2018 and subject to funding approval by City Council. Public
comments and suggestions are encouraged during the design phase.
This project will create vital
connections between the neighborhoods south of Broad to Broad Street as well as
a connection to the proposed Wilson Road Park and the Camp Chase Trail. The
planned improvements will aid traffic movement, improve safety, provide
accommodations for pedestrians and bicyclists, and include:
Roadway widening, realignment and resurfacing
plus addition of a left-turn lane and median
Modifications and a new deck on the bridge
over the railroad
Construction of a shared-use path for
pedestrians and bicyclists
Representatives
from the city of Columbus, the Franklin County Engineer’s Office and designer Woolpert,
LLP, will be on-hand
to answer questions in an
open-house format; no formal presentation will be given. Exhibits illustrating roadway features
and property impacts will be on display.
