DESCRIPTION
AND BENEFITS:
The city of Columbus,
the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning
Commission are collaborating to improve the intersection of Hilliard-Rome Road
at Feder Road and Fisher Road. The project will reduce traffic congestion,
improve safety and provide pedestrian and bicyclist accommodations.
Improvements to the Hilliard-Rome Road & I-70 interchange are also
planned.
Current plans include:
- Widening Hilliard-Rome
and Fisher roads in order to add turn and through lanes
- Building sidewalks,
curbs and gutters on both sides of Feder and Fisher roads plus both sides of
Hilliard-Rome Road south of Fisher Road
- Constructing Americans
with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps
- Adding six-foot-wide
bike lanes on both sides of Feder and Fisher roads
- Adding a service road
with traffic signal at intersection of Feder Road & Hartford Village
Boulevard
- Upgrading traffic
signals, signage, pedestrian countdown timers and push-button signals at
crosswalks
