Neighborhoods to Protect Residents
Areas Added to Spraying Schedule due to Recent Positive
Tests for West Nile
WHAT:
Columbus Public Health (CPH) will be adding
three additional areas to be sprayed due to additional tests that came back
positive for the West Nile virus.
CPH practices disease
control and prevention for the West Nile virus by trapping mosquitoes, investigating
complaints, treating standing water, and spraying in areas with high mosquito
counts and disease presence.

WHERE: The
online map outlines the areas to be
sprayed, weather permitting:
On Monday, August 28, Rocky Fork/Blacklick has been added to the
schedule. The following areas will be sprayed:
- Eastland/Brice
- Eastmoor/Walnut Ridge
- Far East
- Far West
- Rocky Fork/Blacklick
On Tuesday, August 29, Far North and North Linden have been added
to the schedule. The following areas will be sprayed:
- Far North
- Hayden Run
- Near North/University
- Northland
- North Linden
- Northwest
DETAILS: Weekly
spraying areas are determined by mosquito trap results and reports from field
staff, the number and type of mosquitoes trapped, the number of infected
mosquitoes and evidence of human disease. Updated spraying maps are available
on the Columbus Public Health website.
